NEET 2019 – FAQ:

Question: When NEET 2019 will be conducted?

Answer: The national level exam will be conducted on May 5, 2019. More than 13 lakh aspirants are expected to appear for the entrance examination.


Question: In which mode the exam will be organised?

Answer: As per the press release published by NTA on August 21, NEET 2019 exam will be conducted in offline mode only. Earlier, as per the press conference held on July 7, it was declared by MoHFW Minister, Prakash Javadekar that NEET will be conducted in two session in computer based mode.



Question: Who will be conducting NEET from 2019?

Answer: As mentioned earlier about the press conference on July 7, it was announced that NTA will conduct NEET 2019 instead of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).


Question: NTA is conducting NEET, so will I get the NEET UG application form 2019 on NTA official website?

Answer: No, the authority, NTA has launched a new website for NEET 2019. The official website where eligible medical aspirants will get all the details is nta.nic.in. However, the website of under construction and will be operational on November 1 at 11:30 AM with the release of NEET application form 2019. 


Question: With the change in conducting authority, is there any changes in the paper pattern, syllabus, mode and exam pattern?

Answer: Despite of NEET being conducted by NTA, there are no changes in the languages, exam pattern and syllabus. The exam pattern of NEET 2019 will be same as the previous year. 


NTA NEET FAQs - Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants must check the basic eligibility conditions, before filling the application form, to check whether they are eligible or not. Since, NTA has released the application form, therefore, students would have some relevant NEET FAQs 2019 related to eligibility criteria, of which some are mentioned below.


Question: What are the basic eligibility criteria of NEET 2019?

Answer: The following are the conditions which must be fulfilled by aspirants in order to appear for NEET 2019:

  • Aspirants must have attained the age of 17 years as on December 31, 2019 will be eligible to take NTA NEET 2019. Students born on or before December 31, 2002 are also considered eligible for the national examination.
  • Candidates must have completed their Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised central or state board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as the core subjects.
  • The qualifying marks for general category applicants is 50%, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 40%
  • Only students who have Indian nationality, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and Foreign nationals can also apply for NEET UG.

Question: What is the number of attempts to appear for NEET MBBS 2019?

Answer: As per the latest notification on attempts, there is no cap for number of attempts. An aspirant can appear as many times as he/she wants to.


Question: I will be opting Oriya as the medium of paper, would I eligible to participate under 15% All India Quota seats?

Answer: Yes, only candidates who will be securing the minimum NEET cut off 2019 will be eligible to participate for 15% AIQ seats. Also such aspirants can appear other quotas such as state quota seats, deemed and central universities, private colleges for management quota.


Question: I have a gap year between Class 11 and 12. Am I eligible to appear for NEET 2019?

Answer: Yes, candidates with a gap year between Class 11 and Class 12 will be eligible for NEET UG 2019. Earlier, as per the amendment of Medical Council of India (MCI), it specified that a student must undergo continuous two years of study to become eligible to take NEET. However, this amendment was removed by Delhi High Court and aspirants with a year gap can appear for NEET 2019.


Question: What is the upper age criteria to take NEET exam?

Answer: Only unreserved/general category candidates who are 25 years or above as on the date of exam and reserved (SC/ST/OBC) aspirants who are 30 years as on the date of exam can appear for the exam. General candidates must be born on or before December 31, 2002 and reserved candidates must be also born on or before December 31, 2002.


Question: How to know if I am eligible for NEET or not?

Answer: As per the prescribed eligibility criteria, "The simple formula to verify your eligibility is by ensuring that you have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology with English (Core) continuously for two years and have secured the required category-wise percentage".


Question: If a candidate is opting Oriya as medium of question paper, would he be eligible for 15% All India Quota?

Answer:  Candidates qualifying NEET would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium in which the examination is taken by a candidate, subject to other eligibility criteria.


Question: Is a candidate who has passed class XII with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects from NIOS, eligible to appear for NEET (UG) - 2019? 




Question: A candidate who has taken Biology/Bio-technology as an additional subject after passing Class 12 is eligible to appear for NEET 2019? 

Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible." This matter of additional subject in Class 12 has been a subject matter of challenge before the Delhi High Court, High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow bench and Madhya Pradesh High Court. This provision of regulations disqualifying Open School candidates and students who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject has been struck down.


Question: If a student has studied up to class 11 from CBSE or any other Board from KSA/abroad and class 12 from CBSE in India, will he/she be eligible to appear in NEET (UG) - 2019?

Answer: Yes, students educated abroad and seeking admission into medical colleges in India must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English up to Class 12 with 50% marks and their equivalency determined by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.

NEET FAQS 2019- Correction Window Facility

In order to reduce the number of rejected applications, NTA has provided the candidates with a one-time opportunity to correct the mistakes that might have been done inadvertently at the time of filling NEET application form. The candidates are required to use their login credentials to make the necessary changes in their application. The correction window facility was started on January 14 and will remain available till January 31. 

Question: Which details can be edited using the correction window facility? 

Answer: The candidates can make changes in all the fields in the application form. Details like personal information, place of birth, the medium of question paper, choice of NEET exam cities, academic details (Class 10,11 and 12), address, parental and other details as filled in the application form of NEET 2019.  However, these changes can be made only within the stipulated date. No request for modification will be entertained after the completion of the last date. Question: Can I edit my Class 12 qualifying code in the NEET application form? 

Answer: Yes, you can change the qualifying code of Class 12 in the NEET application form 2019. All the fields in the application will be open for candidates to edit. Candidates are required to use their NEET application login credentials in order to make the necessary changes. Question: Can I change my photograph in the NEET application form? 

Answer: NTA has informed all the candidates who have uploaded erroneous images in the application form via email. They have provided specific errors in the uploaded image, therefore, a candidate who has received such an email will be able to change the image(s) as per the guidance provided by the authority. Candidates are required to log in using their credentials and edit the photograph only is it has been directed by the authority. 

Question: I have put an image without a name and white background, will my application be rejected? 

Answer: The authority has issued a notice that photograph without name, date or white background will be not be rejected. 

Question: Can I change my address in the application form? 

Answer: Candidates can edit the address in their application form using the NEET correction window facility. To change the address in the NEET application, candidates need to use their login credentials and make changes in the address field. 


NEET FAQs 2019 - Application Form


Aspirants appearing for the NEET UG entrance examination will be required to fill the application form of NEET 2019. Though, the application form will be released by NTA, there are some changes which has been experienced this year. Thus, based on the queries of candidates, below are some of related NEET 2019 FAQs on application form.


Question: What is the date of availability of application form and what will be last date for submission?

Answer: As per the press release, NEET application form has been made available on November 1, 2018, in online mode only. Only the registered candidates with all the relevant information will be eligible to take the entrance examination. The last date for NEET UG online registrations 2019 is December 7, 2018.


Question: Will there be any changes in the amount of NEET UG application fees? How can I pay the application fee?

Answer: NTA has confirmed through their press release that the NEET UG application fee will remain the same. For general category, it will be Rs. 1400, while candidates belonging to reserved category need to pay Rs. 750.


The application accepts the payment through debit cards issued by all recognised national and multinational banks as well as Rupay. One can also pay through Internet banking or UPI methods. Aspirants can otherwise visit the Common Service Centres and pay via E-wallets.


Question: I have finished making payment but the final confirmation page is still not being displayed. What should I do?

Answer: Aspirants are advised to wait for 24 hours. Take the print out of the confirmation page in next 24 hours as there could be delay in updation of fees on NIC server from the gateway payment. This updation is done within 24 hours maximum. Thereafter if the confirmation page is still not generated, pay the fees once again and take the printout of the confirmation page. The excess fee paid will be automatically refunded in the account from which application fee has been remitted. If the problem is still not resolved, contact the respective banks for further clarification.



Question: While submitting my application form, my session is shown as expired before as I soon as I try to submit it. Thus, the form remains unfulfilled or unsubmitted. What can I do?

Answer: It should be ensured that aspirants submits the application form within a maximum duration of 30 minutes. The session expires after this time. First, save one part of the form and save it as draft. Save each part of the form similarly before beginning the new one. This way, none of the entered information will be lost even if the session expires. It must be ensured that candidates keep all the required information ready before commencing with the form.


Question: How to get proof of fee payment made to NTA for NEET 2019?

Answer: Once the confirmation page is generated, it means the fee payment has been successful. Further, in the lower portion of the confirmation page, details of the fee payment such as transaction ID are given which may be saved for future reference. No other receipt will be provided.
